Our Story

We didn't stumble into this work. We were drawn to it — by the elegance of a medicine that asks why before it asks what, and by the kind of healing we hadn't found anywhere else.

We trained together at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts, where our education emphasized depth, discernment, and true pattern differentiation. Rather than treating isolated symptoms, we were taught to understand the body as an interconnected system — where pain, digestion, sleep, stress, and hormones all inform one another. Our training included classical texts, herbal medicine, and rigorous diagnostic methods integrated with modern clinical practice.

That shared foundation is what led us to open Rooted Axis together. We wanted to build something that reflected the way we were taught to practice — unhurried, thorough, and genuinely curious about each person who walks through the door.

In the years since graduating, we've worked with patients navigating everything from chronic pain and autoimmune conditions to fertility challenges and burnout. What we've seen, again and again, is that people get better when they feel truly understood. That's what we're here for.

The Name

Rooted speaks to our foundation in classical Chinese medicine — treating the root pattern, not just the symptom.

Axis reflects alignment: structural, neurological, hormonal, and emotional. When the body’s internal axis is balanced, healing becomes possible.

Our work lives at that intersection — grounded and aligned

Dr. Nicole Cordeiro, DAHM, LAc, Dipl. Ac.

Dr. Nicole Cordeiro is a board certified Doctor of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine and the founder of Rooted Axis Acupuncture. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Broward College and began her formal training in Chinese medicine at East West College of Natural Medicine before completing her doctoral degree at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts. Her education emphasized classical diagnostic depth, herbal medicine, and lineage-based practice integrated with modern clinical understanding.

Nicole founded Rooted Axis to practice medicine with integrity and clarity — rooted in tradition, informed by science, and built for modern life. She wanted to create a space where patients with complex, hard-to-place conditions could finally feel like someone was connecting the dots.

Her clinical focus centers on layered, interconnected cases — particularly where pain, stress, digestion, sleep, and hormonal health inform one another. She is known for building steady, strategic treatment plans that prioritize regulation and long-term resilience over quick fixes. Patients often describe feeling genuinely heard for the first time, and leaving with a clearer sense of what's actually going on in their bodies.

Nicole approaches each case the way she was trained to: with patience, precision, and a refusal to treat symptoms in isolation. She takes the time to understand the full picture — not just what's hurting, but when, why, and what else is happening alongside it.

Outside the clinic, Nicole is most at home in the backcountry — hiking, camping, and rock climbing whenever she can. In addition to her medical training, she has completed multiple Wilderness First Responder (WFR) courses. These experiences sharpened her ability to stay calm under pressure, think clearly in complexity, and hold steady when things are hard — qualities she brings into the treatment room every day.

Her work centers on helping the body recalibrate — not override — its own intelligence.

Blue Russo MAHM LAc.

Originally from Montgomery, Blue is a Licensed Acupuncturist who bridges the gap between scientific precision and classical healing. With a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry from Huntingdon College, the transition from the laboratory to the clinic was sparked by a desire to integrate modern medical science with a deeper, more holistic approach to patient care. This background allows Blue to provide a balanced perspective that honors both the molecular mechanics of the body and the restorative needs of the whole person.

Focusing on the comprehensive foundations of medicine, Blue is adept at managing complex, chronic conditions—ranging from anxiety, PTSD, and IBS to Chronic Lyme disease, neuropathy, and surgery recovery. This integrative philosophy ensures that each treatment plan is tailored to address the root cause of systemic imbalances, promoting deep and lasting healingfor patients with multifaceted health challenges.

Beyond general practice, Blue has a vested interest in men’s health and sports medicine. This focus is deeply informed by personal experience as a martial arts hobbyist, providing a firsthand understanding of the physical demands of intensive training. By combining a biochemical background with traditional diagnostic techniques, Blue helps individuals optimize their health and performance during rigorous training, accelerate recovery times from athletic injuries, and maintain the structural integrity required for lifelong physical activity.

Working collaboratively alongside the rest of the clinic's team, Blue is dedicated to fostering a supportive and integrated environment for all patients. Whether addressing acute physical setbacks or navigating the complexities of chronic illness, the primary goal remains the same: to provide a balanced, evidence-based approach that empowers individuals to take charge of their well-being. Through this professional partnership, Blue aims to deliver comprehensive care that treats the root cause of imbalance rather than just the symptoms.
